CHRISTMAS: A TIME WHEN ...

A reminder and wishes for all, in which we join, by the Rev. Harry Bodden, one of our retired Ministers (still avery active in serving Christ!):
FOR US IN THE CAYMAN ISLANDS, THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER SEEMS TO MARK ITSELF OFF FROM THE REST OF THE YEAR. IT BEGAN WITH WHAT THE WEATHERMAN TOLD US WAS A WEAK COLD FRONT THAT SETTLED OVER OUR AREA. THIS CREATED A PLEASANT TEMPERATURE WHICH I BELIEVE WE ALL WELCOMED IN CONTRAST TO THE HOT SUMMER DAYS. MOST OF THE MONTH WAS COOL WITH A SOFT  BREEZE. THEN DECORATIVE LIGHTS AND ORNAMENTS HAVE STARTED TO SHOW UP ALONG THE WAY AND THERE ARE OTHER EVIDENCES THAT THE YEAR IS SWIFTLY MOVING AWAY. YES, CHRISTMAS IS COMING AGAIN.
AS WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, I INVITE YOU TO TAKE A LOOK BEYOND THE BABE OF BETHLEHEM AND SEE WHAT JESUS HIMSELF HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE REASON FOR HIS COMING.  IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT IT WAS ON A VISIT TO HIS HOME TOWN THAT JESUS ANNOUNCED WHY HE CAME TO DWELL AMONG US. WE CAN READ IT IN LUKE 4. IS’NT THIS A TIMELY REMINDER THAT JESUS CARES ABOUT OUR HOMES AND FAMILY LIFE? VERSES 18,19 TELL US:
JESUS IS GOD’S ANNOINTED SENT TO PROCLAIM GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR. REMEMBER THAT THE ANGELS HAD SAID TO HUMBLE SHEPHERDS: ” DO NOT BE AFRAID. I BRING YOU GOOD NEWS THAT WILL CAUSE GREAT JOY FOR ALL PEOPLE”. ST.LUKE 2: 10 NIV
HE CAME TO HEAL  BROKENHEARTS. JESUS KNOWS ABOUT OUR SORROWS AND WOES AND REACHES OUT TO GET OUR ATTENTION.
HE CAME TO PROCLAIM FREEDOM TO THE PRISONERS. HE IS STILL IN THE BUSINESS OF SETTING US FREE  FROM ANYTHING THAT WOULD DARE TO SEPARATE US FROM HIS LOVE.
HE CAME TO RECOVER SIGHT TO THE BLIND AND PROCLAIM THE YEAR OF THE LORD’S FAVOUR.
LET US MAKE CHRISTMAS  A TIME WHEN THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD’S LOVE IS SHARED, A TIME WHEN BROKEN HEARTS ARE MENDED AND SORROWS TURNED TO JOY. MAY IT BE A TIME WHEN MANY ARE SET FREE FROM THEIR BONDAGE TO SIN.
AND MAY THE SPIRIT OF GOD GO WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY THROUGH THE COMING YEAR.
